Australian Party Flies

Australians are by and large ‘party animals’.

Any excuse for a celebratory ‘get together’ with party food (bite-size snacks which can be held in a non-drink-holding hand), party drinks (cheap, pre-chilled alcoholic beverages) and party music (any loud continuous sound with a regular rhythm) and a party will result.

Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, divorces, car or home loan approvals and prison releases are among the more common reasons ‘to party’.

But less common events like the death of one’s boss or bank manager, or winning any sporting event or substantial bet on the horses, dogs or election can result in humans assembling to ‘have a good time’ and ‘let one’s hair down’, figuratively, and in the case of women who tie up their unwashed weekday hair in a bun, literally.

And, of course, wherever there are humans eating and drinking, there are likely to be at least as many flies.

And frequently, up to three or four hundred more.
